Biluochun tea is one of the ten most famous teas in China, produced in the East and West Dongting Mountains of the Taihu Lake in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province,China. It is one of the most prized Chinese green teas in China. During the Tang Dynasty(around 1400 years ago), it was known as a tribute tea and was exclusively enjoyed by the royal family in China.It is said that in the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi (1662AD-1722AD) gave the tea the name "Biluochun" during his tour in Suzhou .
Biluochun tea has tightly knotted ropes in shape and curled like a conch in silver white and hidden emerald, with a uniform layer of fine white fluff on the leave edges. Biluochun tea is famous for its "beautiful shape,bright color and rich aroma as well as sweet mellow taste". The Biluochun tea soup color looks turquoise and clear, the leaf bottom is tender green and bright. So it is known as "one tender and three fresh" for its characteristics. One tender means the buds and leaves are young and tender; three fresh is: fresh aroma, fresh flavor, and bright soup color.
Mingqian tea refers to the tea picked before Qingming Festival(around April 5), while Yuqian tea refers to the tea picked after Qingming before the Grain Rain period( about after April 5,before April 20).Although the difference between the two picking time is not very long, just half a month, but there are certain differences for the teas. Biluochun tea leaves that are harvested before the Qingming Festival are green and shiny as well as tender, which are less infested by pests and diseases,so the quality is better. However,the teas picked after Qingming Festival before Grain Rain period is not so tender as Mingqian tea, but the quality has not very different.
Brewing Method
To make the best possible cup of tea, use a 200ml transparent glass then take 3 to 5 grams of Biluochun tea into the cup and brew it with boiling water at about 80 centigrade degrees. The first time you steep this type or flavor let your leaves warm up before brewing so they can smell all their fragrance! Once complete pour out what's left in order to cleanse it from any impurities- then do again just like how we mentioned above but only for 1 minute instead before drinking it.
